What it is, and why it matters
The Agram 2000 is a Croatian blowback-operated submachine gun chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, designed during the Croatian War of Independence and built from molded plastic and stamped steel. Mechanically derived from the Italian Beretta M12 and the broader Ingram MAC family of compact submachine guns, it features a distinctive thumb-hole foregrip for two-handed control and a threaded muzzle for a suppressor. Only a small number were produced, and it earned notoriety as a criminal weapon across former Eastern Bloc countries rather than as a service arm.
The Agram 2000 became infamous as a 'gangster gun', turning up in organized-crime hits across the Balkans and Western Europe far more often than in any military service, its molded-plastic body making it cheap and disposable.
Reportedly designed by Ivan Vugrek. Sources disagree on introduction date (1990 design concept, production circa 1997-1998). The Agram 2002 variant removes the thumb-hole foregrip. With suppressor the weapon measures roughly 482 mm; a stockless compact configuration is often cited around 348 mm.
