The Beretta A400 Xtreme is a 12-gauge gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun introduced in 2012, built around Beretta's Blink (B-Link) gas operating system and a Steelium barrel. Chambered to handle 2.75-, 3-, and 3.5-inch magnum waterfowl loads, it pairs the fast-cycling gas action with the Kick-Off hydraulic recoil-reduction system in the stock to dramatically cut felt recoil. The current Xtreme Plus model adds an enlarged loading port, extended controls for gloved use, and a Steelium Plus barrel.
Beretta claims the A400 Xtreme's Blink gas system cycles 36% faster than any other semi-automatic shotgun and can fire four shots in less than one second, marketing it as the softest-shooting waterfowl gun on the market.
Beretta markets the Blink action as the fastest-cycling semi-auto shotgun and the Kick-Off system as reducing felt recoil by up to 70%. Offered with black or camouflage finishes for waterfowl hunting.
