About
What it is, and why it matters
The Brown Bess Sea Service Musket is the naval pattern of the British Land Pattern Musket, a .75 caliber flintlock smoothbore muzzleloader issued to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines from 1778. Built on a shortened 37-inch barrel with two ramrod pipes, a steel ramrod, a straight 1777-style lock and a distinctly flat, square-cornered butt plate, it stood roughly 53.5 inches overall and weighed about 9 pounds. Deliberately made shorter and lighter than the infantry Land Pattern for close-quarters fighting aboard ship, it armed boarding parties and marines through the American Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars before being withdrawn in the mid-19th century.
Made intentionally short so that boarding parties and marines could handle it in the cramped confines of a ship's deck and rigging, the Sea Service Brown Bess was the standard shoulder arm of Royal Navy sailors and Royal Marines through the age of Nelson.
The Sea Service pattern is distinguished from the land muskets by its short barrel, two ramrod pipes and flat butt plate. Bright-finished examples are associated with the Royal Marines. Sometimes nicknamed the "Nelson Musket" after the Napoleonic naval era.

Trajectory
What the round does downrange
Solved from the muzzle figures and the bullet. The dashed rule is the effective range on the record, and the crosses are the steps the solver returned.
No load solved for this record yetThe flight path is computed from a cartridge and a bullet. This record has no ammunition filed against its chambering, so there is nothing to solve.
