About
What it is, and why it matters
The Ghatak Rifle is an indigenous Indian 7.62x39mm gas-operated select-fire assault rifle developed by Rifle Factory Ishapore under the Ordnance Factory Board. AKM-derived in its long-stroke gas-piston action and rotating bolt, it adds modern furniture including a folding stock, an ergonomic pistol grip, a recoil-reducing muzzle brake, and accessory rails. Finalized in the mid-2010s, it was offered to India's central and state police forces as a rugged counter-insurgency weapon.
The rifle shares its name with the Indian Army's Ghatak platoons, the elite commando teams that spearhead assaults ahead of the main infantry force; 'Ghatak' means 'deadly' or 'killer' in Hindi.
Manufactured by Rifle Factory Ishapore (RFI), West Bengal, a unit of the Ordnance Factory Board. Barrel length, overall length, and muzzle velocity are not published by the maker and are left null pending confirmation; typical AKM-pattern values would apply. State and central police forces placed orders reported at roughly 5,000 units.

Trajectory
What the round does downrange
Solved from the muzzle figures and the bullet. The dashed rule is the effective range on the record, and the crosses are the steps the solver returned.
No load solved for this record yetThe flight path is computed from a cartridge and a bullet. This record has no ammunition filed against its chambering, so there is nothing to solve.
