HS Produkt VHS-D2

The VHS-D2 represents Croatia's ambition to become a notable small arms exporter from the Balkans. HS Produkt, better known internationally for its widely successful Springfield XD/HS2000 pistol series, applied lessons learned from decades of handgun production to create a modern bullpup rifle family. The VHS-2 family was Croatia's statement that a small nation could produce a world-class infantry weapon system, and the D2 designated marksman variant extends squad-level precision to ranges that challenge rifles twice its physical length.

The VHS designation stands for 'Visenamjenska Hrvatska Strojnica' (Multi-purpose Croatian Automatic Weapon). The D2 variant specifically denotes the designated marksman configuration with the longer 500mm barrel, as opposed to the standard VHS-2 assault rifle and VHS-K2 carbine variants. The rifle can be equipped with either a carrying handle incorporating NATO STANAG 4694 rail and flip-up iron sights, or an integrated 1.5X optical red dot sight. Standard magazines are made of durable semi-transparent polymer with 30-round capacity. The VHS-2 family was adopted by the Croatian Armed Forces to replace aging Kalashnikov-pattern rifles inherited from Yugoslav-era stocks.
