What it is, and why it matters
The Kel-Tec KSG Compact (KSG-NR) is a bullpup 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, a compact NFA-ready variant of the Kel-Tec KSG. It retains the KSG's 18.5-inch cylinder-bore barrel and 26.1-inch overall length but uses shortened dual tube magazines and an integrated vertical foregrip, giving a total capacity of 8+1 rounds of 3-inch shells (up to 10+1 with 2.75-inch shells). Like the base KSG it feeds from two side-by-side tubes selectable by a manual lever and ejects spent shells downward for ambidextrous use.
The KSG's twin side-by-side magazine tubes let a shooter stage two different loads at once - buckshot in one tube, slugs in the other - and switch between them with a flick of a selector lever, all packaged into a shotgun barely two feet long.
The KSG-NR/Compact is marketed as 'NFA Ready,' allowing conversion to a short-barreled shotgun by installing a shorter barrel after the appropriate registration. Capacity is reduced versus the standard KSG (14+1) due to the shorter magazine tubes.
