The Kimber 84M is an ultralight short-action bolt-action sporting rifle introduced in 2001 and built around the .308 Winchester family of cartridges. Its scaled, minimal-dimension action uses a Mauser-type claw extractor for true controlled-round feed and extraction, with two front locking lugs and a rear safety lug. Accuracy is supported by a match-grade barrel, match chamber, adjustable trigger and pillar bedding, while the trim profile keeps weight low for mountain and backcountry hunting.
Kimber revived its rifle line with the 84M, marketed as the first ultra-lightweight production rifle to combine classic styling, hand finishing and Mauser-pattern controlled-round feed, making it a favorite among weight-conscious mountain hunters.
The 84M is the short-action member of Kimber's bolt-action rifle line, sized for the .308 Win cartridge family; the larger Model 8400 handles long-action magnum chamberings. Offered in numerous variants including Classic, Montana, Mountain Ascent and Hunter Pro.
