What it is, and why it matters
The Krag-Jorgensen M1907 (Karabin m/1907) is a Norwegian bolt-action carbine chambered in 6.5x55mm, issued to field artillery troops. Built at Kongsberg Vaapenfabrikk, it shares the Krag-Jorgensen's signature side-mounted horizontal box magazine that loads loose rounds through a hinged gate. It is nearly identical to the M1904 engineer carbine, differing only in how the sling is attached, and was stocked all the way to the muzzle unlike the earlier cavalry and mountain-artillery carbines.
The M/1907 and M/1904 carbines were so alike that they were issued as one combined series, the only visible difference being where the sling swivel was mounted on the stock.
Only about 750 M/1907 carbines were produced (1906-1908), alongside 2,750 M/1904 carbines with which it was issued as a single series. The shorter 520 mm barrel yields lower velocity than the full-length m/1894 rifle, so no specific muzzle velocity is documented for this model.
