About
What it is, and why it matters
The Musgrave Veld is a South African centre-fire bolt-action hunting rifle, one of the first sporting models offered by Musgrave of Bloemfontein alongside the Vrystaat (Mk I) and Presidents (Mk II) rifles. Built around the firm's Mauser-pattern RSA action with a controlled-round-feed claw extractor, it was designed for African plains-game hunting and typically fed from an internal box magazine. Chambered for common centre-fire hunting cartridges, it carried the Musgrave reputation for rugged, accurate Mauser-based rifles.
Musgrave named its first sporting rifles after the South African landscape and republic they were built for - the Veld (open grassland), the Vrystaat (Orange Free State) and the Presidents model - marketing them as purpose-built for hunting African plains game.
Model-specific dimensions and the full chambering list for the Veld are poorly documented; the .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm NATO) shown here is the primary documented chambering for Musgrave's Mauser-pattern hunting rifles of the period. Musgrave hunting rifles of this era were also associated with the proprietary 6mm Musgrave plains-game cartridge (essentially a .303 British case necked to 6mm) and with .303 British sporterised conversions.

Trajectory
What the round does downrange
Solved from the muzzle figures and the bullet. The dashed rule is the effective range on the record, and the crosses are the steps the solver returned.
No load solved for this record yetThe flight path is computed from a cartridge and a bullet. This record has no ammunition filed against its chambering, so there is nothing to solve.
