The POF LSR-308 (Light Sniper Rifle) is a bolt-action sniper rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, designed and manufactured by Pakistan Ordnance Factories. First unveiled at the IDEAS 2016 defense exhibition in Karachi on 23 November 2016, the LSR-308 was developed as an affordable indigenous precision rifle for the Pakistan Army. The rifle features a cold hammer-forged chromium-vanadium steel barrel measuring 26 inches, a modular quad rail system for optics and accessories, and a fully adjustable polymer stock with adjustable cheekpiece. With an effective range of 800 meters and a muzzle velocity of 800-820 m/s, the LSR-308 is designed for precision engagements at medium to long range. The rifle represents POF's entry into the modern bolt-action sniper rifle market alongside their existing semi-automatic PSR-90 platform.
The LSR-308 was developed as Pakistan's answer to the need for an affordable, domestically produced bolt-action sniper rifle, complementing the semi-automatic PSR-90 already in service. Its debut at IDEAS 2016 alongside the HMG PK-16 marked POF's expanding capability in specialized military small arms.
The LSR-308 was priced at approximately $6,500 per unit at its 2016 introduction, positioning it as a cost-effective alternative to imported Western sniper systems. The cold hammer-forged barrel provides improved accuracy and barrel life compared to conventional button-rifled barrels. The rifle's trigger pull is adjustable between 0.5-2.5 kg, allowing shooters to fine-tune the trigger to their preference. The quad rail system with two forward locking lugs provides a stable platform for mounting various optics and accessories. The 5-10 round magazine capacity offers flexibility for different operational requirements.
