Introduced on March 28, 2012, the 10/22 Takedown answered decades of demand for a packable version of America's favorite rimfire. Its two-piece design and included carry bag made it a staple of bug-out kits, bush-plane survival packs, and hikers' gear, all while retaining the vast 10/22 aftermarket.
The Takedown mechanism uses a spring-loaded locking lever and an adjustable barrel-mounting collar so the rifle returns to zero after repeated disassembly. Barrel and stock sections each measure about 20 inches when separated, fitting the supplied backpack-style case. Later configurations include threaded and fluted barrels, the lightweight Takedown Lite with an aluminum barrel sleeve, and models with 16.12-inch to 18.5-inch barrels.
