What it is, and why it matters
The Ruger LCP Custom is a compact .380 ACP semi-automatic pocket pistol, an upgraded variant of the popular Ruger LCP introduced in 2015. It retains the LCP's polymer-framed, hammer-fired blowback action and lightweight sub-10-ounce profile, but adds a distinctive red hard-anodized aluminum trigger with improved, shorter-pull geometry and a larger, high-visibility replaceable front sight for faster target acquisition. It was designed as a deep-concealment defensive handgun for the civilian carry market.
The LCP Custom's signature red aluminum trigger became an instantly recognizable visual cue, marking it as the enthusiast-oriented upgrade in Ruger's tiny-pocket-pistol lineup before the LCP II took over.
The LCP Custom bridged the gap between the original LCP and the LCP II. Its front and rear sights are replaceable using standard Glock sight tools. The model was discontinued shortly after the LCP II was introduced.
