What it is, and why it matters
The SIG P210-5 is a Swiss target variant of the renowned P210 single-action, short-recoil semi-automatic pistol. Built for precision sport shooting, it carries an extended 150 mm barrel with a barrel-mounted front sight, a micrometer-adjustable rear target sight, and a tuned sport trigger. Like all P210s it uses the distinctive slide-rides-inside-the-frame rail arrangement inherited from the Charles Petter design, giving exceptional lockup and legendary accuracy. Chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum (with 7.65mm and .22 LR conversion kits available), the P210-5 was produced from the 1960s into the 1990s and is prized by collectors and competitors alike.
The P210 lineage traces to French designer Charles Petter's Modele 1935A, which SIG developed into the SP47/8 adopted by the Swiss Army as the Pistole 49. The P210-5, with its long barrel and adjustable target sights, became a benchmark for accuracy against which precision service pistols are still measured.
The target-oriented P210-5 and P210-6 were the civilian sport models of the P210 family. During 1966-1969 SIG built a small run of heavy-frame P210-5 National Match pistols, of which only around 46 are documented, making them exceptionally rare.
