The Zbroyar Z-10, also designated UAR-10 by the Ukrainian military, is a semi-automatic designated marksman rifle based on the ArmaLite AR-10 platform. Manufactured by Zbroyar in Kyiv, Ukraine, the Z-10 was developed to replace aging Soviet-era SVD Dragunov rifles in Ukrainian service, offering superior accuracy, modularity, and compatibility with Western optics and accessories. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, the rifle features a chrome-lined free-floating barrel, aluminum upper and lower receivers, and accepts standard SR-25/M110 pattern magazines. The Z-10 achieves 0.7-1.0 MOA accuracy with match-grade ammunition, a significant improvement over the SVD's typical 1.5-2.0 MOA performance, and extends the effective engagement range to 1,200 meters.
The Zbroyar Z-10 represents Ukraine's transition from Soviet-era weapons doctrine to Western-standard small arms. Developed by a private Kyiv-based company whose name literally translates to 'gunsmith,' the Z-10 has become the backbone of Ukrainian designated marksman capability in the Russo-Ukrainian War, providing frontline units with precision fire capability at ranges where the aging SVD Dragunov falls short.
The Z-10 was officially adopted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2018 under the designation UAR-10. It was specifically developed to address the shortcomings of the Soviet SVD in modern combat, particularly its limited effective range and poor compatibility with Western optics. The rifle uses a direct impingement gas system and features barrel length options including 16-inch compact, 20-inch standard, and 24-inch precision variants. The guaranteed barrel life is 7,000 rounds. The LUTH-AR MBA adjustable buttstock and configurable fore-end allow the rifle to be tailored to individual shooter preferences.
