The MP7 was originally designated the HK PDW during development before receiving its MP7 designation upon entering production. The MP7A1 (2003) featured a redesigned curved pistol grip, compact folding iron sights, and side-mounted Picatinny rails. The MP7A2 (~2014) replaced the folding foregrip with a triple-rail handguard. Norway is the largest single operator with approximately 6,500 units. Magazine options include 20-round, 30-round, and 40-round detachable box magazines. The barrel features polygonal rifling. The weapon was notably carried during the 2011 raid on Osama bin Laden's compound. Stock collapsed length is 415mm.
