About

What it is, and why it matters

Copy a link to this section

The Seekins Precision Havak Element is an ultralight bolt-action mountain hunting rifle built on the company's Havak short and long actions. It is defined by an unusual lightweight barrel design that wraps a stainless-steel core in an aerospace-grade 7075 aluminum sleeve with a spiral-fluted Mountain Hunter contour, shedding weight without sacrificing rigidity. Mated to a slim carbon-fiber stock and a Remington 700 footprint that feeds from AICS-pattern detachable magazines, short-action models tip the scales around 5.5 lb and long-action models around 6.0 lb. The two-lug Havak action carries an integrated Picatinny rail, and barrels are threaded for a brake or suppressor. Twist rate is matched to chambering (1:8 for the 6.5 cartridges, around 1:11.25 for .308). It is purpose-built for backcountry hunters who count every ounce.

Seekins Precision, best known for its AR receivers and PRS-grade Havak HIT, built the Element to chase the opposite end of the spectrum: the lightest possible Havak for mountain hunters, using a novel aluminum-sleeved barrel to cut weight that conventional fluting alone could not.

Short-action models about 5.5 lb (about 2,495 g), long-action about 6.0 lb (about 2,720 g). Barrel commonly 21 in (533 mm); the newer Element M3 also offers a 20-in option. Calibers include 6.5 Creedmoor, 6mm Creedmoor, .308 Winchester, 6.5 PRC and others; twist varies by chambering (1:8 for 6.5, ~1:11.25 for .308). Carbon-core/aluminum-sleeved Mountain Hunter barrel. AICS-pattern magazines, 5+1. MSRP roughly $1,800-$2,200. Listed as a lightweight variant of the Havak family alongside the HIT.
