About
What it is, and why it matters
The Bergara B-14 Wilderness is a series of precision bolt-action hunting rifles built on Bergara's two-lug B-14 action and barrels made at the company's facility in Bergara, Spain. The series, anchored by the Wilderness HMR, pairs a 4140 chrome-moly barrel finished in Sniper Grey Cerakote with a hand-painted molded synthetic stock featuring a full-length mini-chassis for rigidity and repeatable bedding. Threaded muzzles with an Omni muzzle brake, AICS-pattern detachable magazines and the adjustable Bergara Performance Trigger make the Wilderness family a popular backcountry long-range hunting platform.
Bergara grew from a barrel-making operation in the Basque town of Bergara, Spain, into a complete rifle brand under Blackpowder Products, Inc.; the B-14 Wilderness line extended the value-priced B-14 platform into the all-weather backcountry precision market with Cerakote finishes and mini-chassis stocks.
Caliber and barrel length vary by configuration: the .308 Win uses a 20-inch barrel, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC use 24-inch barrels, and the .300 Win Mag and .300 PRC use 26-inch barrels. The Wilderness series includes the HMR, Ridge, Terrain and Sierra models, each with different stock and barrel configurations.
